My new baby

Yes, there is good reason for having been out of action for the best part of this week. It’s a 2012 Kia Forte (Cerato) Koup 2L, manual (of course), 158 ponies, sunroof, 17″ rims, 15% Llumar tint, and a bonnet. Would have gotten the 2.4L engine if it were available but only a 1.6 and 2 is on offer over here.

Yes, its sporty, but obviously, no, it’s not a sports car.

But it could be… Any ideas for convincing lady bingbing to agree to chucking a turbo in it?

PS Just in time, too. I knew the old beater (as they say in the US) was on its last legs, but sheesh, it didn’t even make it down to the registration office this morning. Oh, well. It’s probably in car heaven by now.

    Dear Lady BingBing,

For your own sanity (and ours), I humbly urge you to reconsider the choice of the Turbo engine option. At times I agree, it is important to keep your man restrained, especially when it comes to financial matters. However. Keep in mind the endless hours of torment you will experience whilst in transit in the future if you do not concede victory to hubby in regard to the ‘size’ and ‘power’ of his tool; in this case, the Turbo engine. Ask yourself, “is it worth it”? The answer can only be a resounding “yes” on a number of fronts.

Young men don’t ask for much. Usually! Although, vehicle purchase is one such area that can cause you considerable annoyance should you choose to take the sensible approach and go for the smaller engine. Aussie blokes like their equipment to be powerful. You know this as fact.

Just think of all the times on the road you will regret saying ‘no’, such as when overtaking and taking off from a hill start. Do you really want to have BingBing have the upper-hand when he says, “if only we had the Turbo” adnauseum. The endless quips would be enough drive any sane woman to despair. You deserve better, LBB.

The small outlay today will be worth it in the long run. Not only will Bingers get bragging rights, you will probably get that Gucci bag you always wanted.

    Love and kisses,
    Sean.

ps. It is a beautiful looking car, love the interior. I can just see LBB screaming off into the distance, leaving a puff of smoke behind with the Turbo option, when Bingers has been behaving badly.

    • Well said, good man! :-)

Tell ya what but, even without the turbo, it really wants to jump off the line in first. It’s a dilemma. If I start moving just after the car in front, I have to ride the clutch a bit. Either that, or give it a couple of car lengths, and then pounce to within inches of the car in front. Was first off the line on the way home before, let the clutch out properly, and even with traction on, the front right gave a little squeal.

Dear Lady Bing Bing – A ute, a big V8 ute. You know it makes sense. :)

I’m with Carpe on this one. Think of how many Gucci bags you can fit in the back of a ute…

Turbo, 19′s and down and inch or two. My two cents.

    … in black, of course.

    Cheers

    • Did consider that one, especially in light of all the new FTA’s over here making foreign cars cheaper than they used to be.

However, yes they are cheaper, but an equivalent car is still not on par price, spare parts and after service wise with a locally built product.

A ute…………….you know you want to. SV6 or an SS, Lady Bing would approve ;)

        • Have to admit, it would be something. Same deal in Japan. They just wouldn’t get it.

They might not get it, but at least its not illegal to do skids over there. Is it?

            • Think of it like marijuana laws back in Oz.

Looks like it would go pretty good paddock bashing, but does it do skids?

In case you’re not sure what I mean, here is a vid of a Ute doing a skid . :D
