L-NP 61.5 to ALP’s 38.5
Yowsa.
In the latest Morgan Poll L-NP support is 61.5% (up 3.5% since last week’s face-to-face Morgan Poll) compared to the ALP’s 38.5% (down 3.5%) on a two-party preferred basis according to a face-to-face Morgan Poll conducted last weekend, May 26/27, 2012. This is a record two-party preferred lead for the L-NP in over 70 years of the Morgan Poll based on how electors said they’d vote.
Today’s face-to-face Morgan Poll shows the L-NP primary vote is 49% (up 3.5%) well ahead of the ALP 27.5% (down 4.5%). Support for the minor parties shows the Greens 13% (up 2.5%) and Independents/ Others 10.5% (down 1.5%).
Newspoll gives slightly better results but it’s still dire.
That said, Opposition leader Tony Abbott has cautioned his team not to rest on their laurels.
“Gillard won’t lie down and die. Where there’s life, there’s fight,” Mr Abbott said.
“Our job won’t be over until the next election is won.”

But the luvvies are reporting Newspoll’s 40-37 Gillard lead over Abbott as preferred PM- unbelievable (the lead, not the reporting). Have Newspoll gone rogue? But as Barnaby said (paraphrase, haven’t got exact wording) – heard him say words to the effect that ‘I’d rather have the least popular captain on the winning side than the most popular captain on the losing side’ (his analogy was pithier & much better).
Hellish having to wait for an election…
Seems to me, if you were in the business of employing pollsters, I wouldn’t waste my money on Newspoll. When I read it at Bolta’s I thought the same thing.
It is also interesting to note my kids are being bombarded by Union propaganda at the moment. Memberships are down and the Unions are actively targeting the younger employee’s. Both, ALP and the Unions, are hurting big-time right now when it comes to membership. They can lay blame squarely on Gillard and her outrageous attacks on “working families”, via her Carbon Tax and support for unsavoury characters in Parliament.
Good one, Julia. Killing the ALP and the Unions with one rock. And we all think she is useless.
You will also find that the unions are targettting subbies who don’t have ‘union approved’ EBAs or industrial instruments.
And some of the Tier one builders are fighting back too.

I see your BFF Fergal Doyle is named in that case. Seems a productive lad.
So, why again, did Gillard scrap the ABCC?
It’s part of a deal she cut with the unions for financial support and the greenslipe for political support.
On the upside at least they didn’t get the industrial manslaughter laws they wanted.
If we had a US-style presidential system, then that preferred PM might carry more weight.
Sorry, but I am very cynical about that Newapoll, something doesn’t add up.
Oops that should be Newspoll. [Feeling very tired tonight].
Well, to give the benefit of the doubt, the Newspoll was probably a phone and/or internet poll, which Morgan states are less reliable than face-to-face polls. The Morgan poll was a face-to-face poll.
Yes good point bing, another point is what people are saying and what that poll shows are so much in conflict as to raise eyebrows.
