Seems like a bit of an own goal, doesn’t it?

No, it’s quite traditional. The Al-Sauds began the process in the 1930s, and have maintained it:

Thanks for the link. I’ll check it when I get home, or on my phone when I’m having a ciggie (edu. dept. internet filter has deemed the independent to be subversive or something).
It may well be traditional but I’m sorry, I’m at a loss to understand why.
It’s part and parcel of the Wahabi package, in that these “tombs of the saints” were not approved in the Koran nor in the Hadith, and are therefore ‘innovations’. To maintain the ‘purity’ of their version of Mohammidanism requires that such be destroyed, much like the bits and peaces of the various infidel religions.
Cheers
*sigh* Glad I was born in Australia.
So weird and pissed off muzzies vent their religious bigotry by attacking other muzzies.
The stupid – it burns.
As long as they share their “faith” with each other, I wont be complaining…
And I thought Korean “logic” was a bit hard to fathom sometimes…
