Congratulations, Andy Murray
The first Brit to win a Grand Slam since Fred Perry in 1936. That’s a long time between drinks!
He did it tough, beating Djokovic in a drawn out five-setter – equal to the longest on record at 4h 54m – 7-6(12-10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2.

Kind of ironic (the time between wins) considering Wimbledon and all. But a well deserved victory for her majesty’s subject!
I’m not sure where the “irony”is there… Berlin Olympics 1936? But, anyway, you’d think they’d have picked up a couple more in that time period.
The end of the Cold War was supposed to be good, but all we’ve ended up with is Russian tennis players and global warming nuts…
:-/
The irony being that Tennis is the sport of kings, yet the last great Kingdom has taken almost 80 years to reach the pinnacle of the sport again.
And yes, the irony of the Russians being atop the Tennis world, and the Swiss winning the Americas Cup! If you wrote this as fiction, no one would buy it!
