Censor the media? Let’s see what the High Court might think about that

That’s what News Ltd. boss Kim Williams not-so-subtley suggested today.

CEO Kim Williams told a parliamentary inquiry this afternoon he believed the introduction of a Public Interest Media Advocate would be “of very real interest to the High Court”.

“We are confident this approach in creating the Public Interest Media Advocate and the powers that are rendered unto it and the sanctions that are rendered unto it go against the free flow of political communication in our society,” Mr Williams said.

“In the event that these laws are passed we would be immediately seeking leave to appeal to the High Court.”

With any luck, it won’t come to that, but if it does, I hope he follows through, and I hope he wins.

Sen. Feinstein, the “common thread” isn’t merely guns and ammo. Why do you refuse to take a look at SSRI meds?

US Senator Diane Feinstein (Democrat, California) has recently come out guns blazing, noting the “common thread” between recent mass shootings and the use of high powered assault rifles and high ammo clips.

Never mind the guns she and other vocal libs such as Piers Morgan are attacking number in the millions whilst you can count mass shootings on one or two hands.

Add everything together, make all the necessary caveats, carry the two, and we reach the conclusion that there are somewhere around 3,750,000 AR-15-type rifles in the United States today. If there are around 310 million firearms in the USA today, that means these auto-loading assault-style rifles make up around 1 percent of the total arsenal.

Yes, there’s a lot of gun violence in the US, but the measures being proposed now are even less than a futile gesture.

One thing you can count on, however, is that all of these mass shooters were either on, or had recently come off SSRI medication such as Prozac.

But even then, you have millions upon millions of Americans on SSRIs, and yet, however tragic each and every mass shooting is, still only that handful or two of them.

Sure, do a background check for every legal gun purchase, but be careful on the rest of the liberal proposals.

We all know it’s a leftist’s wet dream to have a world ridded of guns, but that simply is never going to happen. That’s not how our species works.

At best, proposals such as Feinstein’s will make it harder for the good guy, and won’t do a thing to kerb most gun violence, about 3/4 of which is gangbangers and the like (google it if you don’t believe that).

TBH, most of the stuff I’m hearing, from the gun debate to Benghazi, to Obama’s renewed push to combat climate change  is nothing more than a constant media barrage designed to distract America and the world from…

that $16 and a half trillion dollar debt that nobody’s doing anything about.

The new Left: “racist” jokes that actually parody racism, bad. Obvious fat joke cheap shots, OK

Such is the hypocrisy of the Left.

On the one hand, we hear about the increasingly leftist BBC omitting classic segments from the superlative comedy series, Fawlty Towers, produced by and starring, er, leftists.

On the other hand, we have CNN’s Erin Burnett doing a story about FaceBook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerbeg’s endorsement of Republican New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie.

In her intro, she refers to Zuck’s “obese checkbook”.

Weasel all you want, but that was an obvious cheap shot, and a classic case of ever-changing goal posts, opportunism, hypocrisy, selective moralism, and worst of all, partisan comment being passed off as objective journalism.

Not cool for Erin, who’s usually half decent for a CNN host.

Dem threads

Enjoyed watching the POTUS inauguration the other night.

‘Twas interesting to see the CNN commentators tripping over themselves to see who could wax most lyrical.

And when it came to their adulations over the first lady’s garb, well, it reminded me of a certain story.

Perhaps I’m the only person on the planet who thinks this when an adoring media goes on and on (and on and on) about Michelle Obama’s clothes* …

… but I doubt it. :-)

*Or maybe it was their commentary in general …

Fan death

Fan death, or the belief that keeping the fan on whilst you sleep in a closed room will kill you, is a widely held belief in South Korea.

Sounds ridiculous, right?

However, top scientists have explained it and confirmed its veracity. There are regular news reports. Every fan in Korea has a timer on it to prevent this lethal threat.

Even Korean wifey has challenged my laughter with documentary X that was on TV.

Talking to my cousin last night, he noted how effing stupid that an entire nation could believe such crap. My reply was essentially, meh, replace “fan death” with “global warming”, and you have an entire planet believing such nonsensical shite … backed up by top scientists and constant news reports, no less.

:-)

Snap!

Occupy Unmasked

It was Andrew Breitbart’s final project before his untimely death.

And the full movie is about to be released.

Meanwhile…

And currently…

Labor’s dirt machine

They’ve been at it since the beginning of time, and were likely feeding David Marr scuttlebutt for months as he researched his attack on Opposition leader Tony Abbott, and yet the best that they both can up with is that maybe Tony Abbott hit a wall when he was a teenager, as “witnessed” by two people, Abbott haters no less, who weren’t even there.
