Obama redecorates Oval Office

It took him a while, but he’s finally done it. Apparently, he thought it a good idea not to be redecorating in the midst of the GFC. Or maybe he was just too busy playing golf to get round to it.

Anyway, it’s not bad, a bit drab but. A bit too homely when a POTUS, one would have thought, should go for something with more wow factor, more prestigue. W had the best looking one of late, in my humble opinion.*

Here’s a pic, and below the fold, you’ll see a pic of W’s, Bill’s, Bush Sr’s and Reagan’s. Cast your vote on which one (office not POTUS!) impresses you the most.

George W Bush's

Bush Sr's

Reagan's (as if you couldn't tell by the pic)

*With all these thoughts of popping the question soon, yes, I’ve been watching too many home deco programs.

The Daily Mail has some good pics, too. Apparently, Churchill’s out, MLK is in. 😛

It’s between Bush Sr. and Jr. I don’t know about Reagan’s because he’s blocking the view. WOW! Republicans! Who’d a thunk it!

    • You’re right. In fact one of the girls in my office picked Sr’s.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Not much has changed in 2000 years.

    • No one here’s going to disagree… although in this case, who’s playing with matches?

I like Clinton’s best, purely because we all know and can imagine what went on under that desk.

    • And imagine??? Excuse me whilst I go dip my brain in paint stripper.

Obama’s looks more comfortable. I mean, velvet sofas with lots of pillows? C’mon I’d LOVE to crash at Barrack’s house! ^.^

    • That’s the point, but. It’s the bloody oval office, JJ, not a frickin’ crash pad.

Obama’s office [because that is what it is] is very cluttered, there is to much happening, he needs to get rid of a couple of the chairs. It shows a very cluttered mind, meaning it is all over the place.

When I was at the White House, it was very much, under construction (first major one since IKE, I think, I remember seeing rugs in the hall way and chairs stacked 🙂 (during Bush Sr. Babes was doing some nesting I guess), but ya, Obama makes it look like somewhere I would crash :), which is not really the ideal behind the symbolism of the place :).

The rug has a quote from Martin Luther King, that while he said it, it was from a guy in the 1800’s. Also the Lincoln quote was similar wording from something the same man said. They should do more research and credit the correct person.

    • And that man would be Theodore Parker.
