In regards to the suggestion made by Rabz (p2) of whether I had anything to do with the Australian PM being dressed like an Austrian in the little figurines Korea has made of world leaders currently attending the G20 summit Seoul, Korea, my lawyers have instructed me to say “no comment”.

Although I did hear someone say that for a childless, unmarried, working woman, the apron was a nice, if not a tad ironic, touch…

A case in point: why burqas have no place in Western society

Or any full face covering for that matter… in any society

A woman who was kidnapped when she was 14 and raped daily, only to be freed some eight years later, missed her chance of escape mere weeks after she was abducted.

Why?

Mitchell, 57, is charged with kidnapping and unlawful transportation of a minor across state lines. If convicted, he faces a life sentence.

Smart also revealed she was so terrified of her kidnapper — who allegedly said her family would be killed if she escaped — that she missed the chance to be found just weeks after being taken.

Detectives ran into Smart — who was wearing a veil — and Mitchell in a Salt Lake City library but she stayed silent when Mitchell, reportedly citing religious reasons, refused to let them see her face.

JFTR, the face covering seems not to be a burqa, per se. Mitchell was “a mix of Mormon philosophy, new ageism and his own doctrine”. This post is not an attack on Muslims. It is an attack on full face coverings, whatever they may be, including burqas. The word “burqa” was used in the headline and a picture of a niqab was used as these are the most prominent examples that come to mind when thinking of full face coverings. Plus they have been prominent in the media lately.
