Julia’s decree is not law.

PS If one may borrow from Burt Reynold’s in Cannonball Run, when the ambulance is getting repairs under the protective canopy of a truck…

10-4 Bing Buddy, come on! (*head lolling about to “Killing in the name of…”*)
Even better News of the day… (“better” is probably a bad choice of word)

So far as I see, it’s over for the Gillard Government. The total humiliation of Thomson has turned to what perhaps, should and will be the end. An interesting week ahead. I gotta say, I sorta feel sorry for Thomson, even though his demise is of his own doing. I see his position as untenable right now.
The moral to the story – don’t breech the Electoral Act! This is really serious stuff.

The silly man, and his credit card, may go down in history as the catalyst for an entire governments demise. Incredible really! Thomson could be dismissed from his seat on a technicality, resulting in a hung parliament.

I say I feel sorry for the bloke not on moral grounds, but the fact he must be having a personal dilemma. Since 2005, he appears to have broken many rules and perhaps laws, which he has now been caught out because he, himself, engaged on a defamation action which has backfired big-time. If he keeps going and refuses to stand down, he will be hounded like Godwin Grech. No person, surely, is strong enough to endure such personal pressure. Indeed, Julia and the ALP are being totally selfish to insist the man hold his seat so the Party can retain political power. You have to ask, at what cost Thomson’s personal and mental well-being? I mean, is any job worth your own personal character assassination to save an unwanted Prime Minister who has lost control of all aspects of the government she leads? I would say, No. But that’s me.

Let Thomson apologise and stand down, avoiding further public scrutiny, call an election and let the cards fall as they may,

    • Ha! That “pps” was added when the RATM (35 min mark) was mixed in! I knew you’d love it, as did I.

Have followed Thompson a bit but really, not much. Good summary, very good. Like a million bucks good.
