Maybe Gillard should take a leaf out of McDonald’s book

Bear with me. First, coffee.

THREE months ago, McDonald’s said sorry for their bad coffee.

But a new survey has shown coffee drinkers think McDonald’s is the number one coffee chain.

McCafe beat out other big Aussie chains, such as The Coffee Club, Gloria Jeans and Michel’s, for overall satisfaction and price, according to an independent survey by Canstar Blue.

In June, McDonald’s launched an advertising campaign apologising for its low standard of coffee.

At the time, chief operating officer Helen Nash told The Australian that McDonald’s would overhaul its coffee by introducing better bean blends and professionally trained baristas, after admitting that although it is the largest coffee chain in Australia “we know we are not the most loved”.

Canstar Blue manager Rebecca Logan said the overhaul had paid off.

“McDonald’s took a strong stand by publicly admitting earlier this year its coffee offering wasn’t entirely up to scratch,” Ms Logan said.

“To turn this around in a few months is a significant achievement.”

Now let’s do an “if only”…

THREE months ago, the Australian Labor Party said sorry for their bad policies.

But a new survey has shown voters think Julia Gillard is the number one PM ever.

Gillard beat out other big Aussie chainsmokers, such as Tim Blair, Tony Abbott and Bob Brown, for overall satisfaction and cool factor, according to an independent survey by some bloke.

In June, Labor launched an advertising campaign apologising for its low standard of governance.

At the time, chief operating officer Julia Gillard told The Australian that the ALP would overhaul its policies by introducing better ideas and professionally trained MPs, after admitting that although it is the largest political party in Australia “we know we are not the most loved”.

Some bloke said the overhaul had paid off.

“Australian Labor took a strong stand by publicly admitting earlier this year its policy offerings weren’t entirely up to scratch,” Ms Gillard said.

“To turn this around in a few months is a significant achievement.”

If only…
