Kim Jong-il is dead!

Yippee-ki-yay!!!

Best Christmas present ever!

UPDATE!

Moar! (Tim Blair who’s updating regularly)

The kids I teach are stoked! One kid, however, reminded us there’s still his son, probable successor and chip off the old block son, Kim Jong-un.

Some reoprts have painted him as even more of a sadistic bastard.

UPDATE II

The only thing the dear dead leader will be looking at now is the inside of a coffin.

UPDATE III

As the news sinks in over here, I’m picking up a sense of joy, relief but also apprehension because of Kim Jong-un, his son and likely successor, who’s reported to be even worse than Mr Ronery.

Stock market is down.

UPDATE IV

I’ve written pretty extensively about both Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un.

UPDATE V

Via Paco, a look into North Korea’s secret labour camps… in Russia.

UPDATE VI

A possible power struggle? NB. That’s an old link that seemed prescient today. I personally doubt it but you never know what really goes on up there.

UPDATE VII

South Korea is on level 2 alert at the moment – same as when the Norks shelled Yeongpyeong.

Share market  – KOSPI – down about 5%. KOSDAQ down about 9%.

UPDATE VIII

That fat body with the haircut in the background is his son and likely successor, Kim Jong-un.

H/T

UPDATE IX

Stocks have bounced back a little; about a 3.4% drop now.

One Free Korea has some decent links including the KNCA news bulletin announcing the pudgy fashionista’s demise.

UPDATE X

Stocks in women’s sunglasses have plummeted.

UPDATE XI

It’s the South Korean president’s birthday today. Not a bad present IMO.

South Korea twitter reactions.

Funeral set for December 28 in Pyeongyang.

Streets are normal.

As expected, emergency cabinet meeting, no travel for any cabinet members, nuclear six-party talks put on hold.

Yep good news, but also feel that the new one [who by the way doesn’t look as though he eats the same food as his people], may turn out to be worse and that is sad for those who live there, but again maybe they don’t know any different after all the years they have been under this type of rule.

Come to think of it isn’t this what Julia and Bob want for Australia?

    Merry Christmas, North Korea!

A window of opportunity now exists for the peoples of Nth Korea. Kim Jong-Un will be of no comfort to the masses (not that they will be aware of any other option). If the world plays this right, destabilisation could give the people of Nth Korea the freedom some quietly yearn for.

I hope the NK military do not provoke a furphy by attacking the West to divert attention.

Heard it 1st on this blog! Waiting to hear it on our 5pm news now.
My instinctive reaction: take great care.

Apparently, this will ensure Marmite maintains its supremacy.

    Cheers

    • I will never convert to the dark side. Vegemite FTW!

  1. Un is still there however.

And we lost a great one – Vaclav Havel.
