    • In his Anabasis, Xenophon writes that his Rhodians could not only sling further than the Persians’ slingers but could even outdistance the famed Persian archers—perhaps as far as 400m with lethal impact.
      The Romans did know of slings with a stick, the fustibalus. but it was not as effective as the usual sling, the funda, in experienced hands.
