What Romney said is actually spot on

How is this a bad thing?

REPUBLICAN Mitt Romney has a new headache after a video surfaced showing him telling wealthy donors that almost half of all Americans believe they are victims, entitled to government support.

He added that as Republican candidate for the White House, “my job is not to worry about those people”.

A new headache? Only insofar as a bunch of morons will attack him for statements that are absolutely on the money. That gives me a headache.

If you consider yourself a “victim” in this context, and that just simply for breathing, you deserve free money – which is actually money other people earned who are having it snatched from them – then get stuffed, no-one should worry about you.

Perhaps those people should worry, and do something, about themselves first.

Taxes are necessary, but they are not fine when wasted on tripe like this.

Romney is so pure, the american MSM has to make up stories or contrive scandals in order to promote Obama. You are correct. Romney is entirely correct. And he is also correct. His job is to worry about providing opportunities for those who seek to help themselves.

    Observation

Greatest problem with most welfare payments are their internal disincentive taxes. These the reduction of welfare support for each dollar earned by recipients.

Australian disincentive reduction taxes gradually reduced from 110% deductions, to 50% deductions, with rises in the deduction-tax-free amounts.

It is the reduction of these disincentive tax rates in Australia from which we now see more welfare recipients working and seeking employment.

These discouragements encourage refusal to declare incomes to tax and welfare, with greater acceptance of other unlawful activities…

Milton Friedman once proposed the total elimination of the welfare system, to be replaced with a negative income tax system, that would do basically what you say Australia does. The proposed system would eliminate massive amounts of bureaucratic costs, and provide incentives for people to earn more (and so recieve less in welfare).

And for those reasons, it will never be adopted in the US. Government does not work on logic.

Carter had only one child, Amy – the “Nu-clar proliferation” expert. So this must be her kid. The scuttlebutt around the colonies is that the DNC had this tape a lot longer. And they were planning on using it in October just before the Election.

No one is accusing the Carters of being mensa candidates.

Of the 47%, 61 percent of them paid payroll taxes — which means THEY HAVE JOBS and, when you account for both sides of the payroll tax, they paid 15.3 percent of their income in taxes, which is higher than the 13.9 percent that Romney paid. Yes, the 47% paid a higher tax percentage than Mitt Romney. I guess Mitt was talking about himself:(

    • Yeah, Krugman dished out a whole lot of numbers to confuse the issue also. Are you seriously trying to tell me there aren’t a whole lotta people who have a sense of entitlement?

Ok Rick – these poor lumpenproles paid 15.3% & Romney paid 13.9 %.

Care to express that in Dollar terms? I think you will find a substantial difference.

BTW – what did ogabe and the moocher pay in tax? or Altzheimers Biden? or Granny Rictus McBotox Pelosi?

Curious minds need to know – perhaps they can release 5 years of their tax returns for scrutiny.

      • Carps. Apply the same fine tooth anus brush???

I forgot to add, payroll tax is paid by the employer not the employee.

          “fine tooth anus brush’ ??

How very saucy, that would make a great title for a carry on movie – “Carry On Fine Tooth Anus Brush” – the Kennedy edition.

Starring Sid James as the carnival barker lush, Frankie Howard as the Roman Emperor, Ted kennedy as the drunk driver & guest appearance by Mary Jo Kopechne as the floating body.

PS – Lady Jugs says hi (konbanwa Bing sama)- the 2 youngest Jugulums have moved to our home in Japan (our babies are fleeing the nest) *wipes a tear*.

          • payroll tax is paid by the employer not the employee.

Now see. That just ruins everything.

The subject is – FEDERAL INCOME TAXES – not FICA. And supposedly, those “PAYROLL” taxes (as opposed to Income Taxes) are not for the general fund, but for their eventual retirement and Medicare. Of course with Obama stealing $741b from Medicare for his pet projects, that does tend to indicate that those “Contributions” are not really contributions, but just another tax.

While what you say is technically true (when you expand the definition to all taxes, not just INCOME taxes), that is an even worse platform to run on for democrats since it proves that the poor will never see their contributions to the system, instead it will be spent by greedy democrats on whatever their fancy is this month.

BTW: to get to the 15.3%, you have to include the employer portion (a valid argument). However, to accurately depict Romney’s taxes, you would also have to add in the taxes paid on the money BEFORE he got it, which is 35% in the US. So Romney actually paid 48.9% in taxes, just as the working poor actually paid 15.3% in FICA and Medicare taxes.

      Romney still paid more.
